(exclusive Interview) leap: “the more honest and real you can be, the better.”
Passionate, proud, and driven are three accurate words that perfectly sum up the members of LEAP: Jacky, Hector (drums), Declan (bassist), and Adam (guitarist). More than just making music, the band has built a community that feels like a movement mixed with a family-like vibe – warm, welcoming, and a little bit chaotic. Watch any of their music videos, and you’ll instantly fall for their charm, making you want to join the chaos that is their shows.
Their latest single, ‘Messages’, shows just how personal their music can be. A raw and emotional track written by Jacky after the passing of his dad, who sadly took his life in 2021. In partnership with CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably), the release also raises funds for vital helplines and support services. While deeply personal, Jack hopes the track helps people listening who are also experiencing a loss to find some strength and resilience from the heartbreak.
Fans have been eagerly waiting for their debut album, Entropy out on 3rd October. In just two years, the band have sold over 40,000 tickets across the UK and Europe, thanks in part to their explosive gigs and connection with their audiences. Their first 3 EPs gained strong editorial support from the likes of BBC Radio 1, Rolling Stone, MTV, and BBC Introducing.
To say these guys are ones to watch would be an understatement; catch them on their upcoming UK & EU autumn tour starting in October. We caught up with LEAP to talk about their songwriting, the dedication of the fans, and their dream goals coming to life for 2026.
SpinVybe: Your debut album, Entropy, is set for release on October 3rd. This being your debut album, do you get nervous when releasing new music? Are there expectations you put on yourself?
LEAP:I think there’s always going to be some degree of nerves when releasing new music, especially your debut album. But the love and support we receive from our fans, old and new, is insaneeee, so we can't complain. Excited more than anything else.
SpinVybe: The latest single, “Messages”, saw you partnering with CALM and has a very emotional sentiment behind the track. How can music and community support help break the stigma around mental health?
LEAP: It’s a big part of our message; having dealt with these issues ourselves, we’ve found through personal experience that having a space where you can open up about these kinds of things really helps you feel and know that you’re not alone, and there are ways to deal with these feelings and emotions through expression.
SpinVybe: Jacky, you’ve described ‘Messages’ as the most personal song you’ve ever written—how has sharing something so raw helped you heal, and what do you hope listeners take from it?
LEAP: Yeah, ‘Messages’ is a song I wrote after my old man, Simon, took his own life back in 2021, which was a pretty brutal thing to go through. Somehow listening back to his old voicemails and putting pen to paper helped me come to terms with the feelings of heartbreak I was going through. I really hope it can help people out there find some resilience and strength with the track if they are going through the loss of a loved one.
SpinVybe: When dealing with those sorts of themes and issues, how do you approach writing such vulnerable personal stories? How do you choose how far to go?
LEAP: I think the more honest and real you can be, the better. There were definitely a few tears in the studio making this one, but there's nothing wrong with a little little man crying from time to time (laughing.)
SpinVybe: Jacky, your unique vocals are central to your sound. How do your personal experiences shape your vocal delivery?
LEAP: Honest open expression combined with chain smoking seems to be a winning combo (laughing).
SpinVybe: With influences ranging from rock to electronica, how do you decide which elements to incorporate into a track?
LEAP: At the core it’s indie rock riffs with a side of that emo energy. We try to change things up to keep it interesting for ourselves and fans. Sometimes we have a specific sound or thought in mind, and sometimes the vibe just flows.

SpinVybe: What message do you hope fans take away from the album?
LEAP: I think that it’s okay to be vulnerable, open and honest about the way you feel; life will have its ups and downs, but there will be people there to listen when you want to talk. That we all have certain uncomfortable feelings, and no one is alone in that; amongst all the carnage, there really is so much beauty, love and hope.
SpinVybe: The ‘Waste Your Love’ music video is not only a fun and well-made watch. But it also comes across as a community-fuelled party involving fans. Was that intentional, to capture both the vibe as a giant party but also to highlight the energy at your shows?
LEAP: Thank you (laughing). Yeah, definitely. We’re so proud of our fans and grateful for this insane energy, so getting them involved, all in our natural vibe (a huge community-fuelled party, just like our shows), was something we’d been wanting to do for a while.
SpinVybe: Following that concept, many of your videos, for example ‘The Downfall’, feature footage from your live shows. Is that a choice to spotlight how much performing is a big part of your identity as an artist and the passion you have for the stage?
LEAP: Yeah, that was defo a choice…our wallet's choice (laughing). Music videos are pricyyyy (laughs)! No, but really, our live shows are something we cherish, performing to our fans with such an insane energy in the room, so we have to get that into our videos.
SpinVybe: They both also seem to put your fans as the main character, which adds a really nice touch. How important is it for you to feature the fans in projects, even in some small way?
LEAP: Without them, we genuinely couldn’t do this. Our fans are THE BEST! We want to show our gratitude and love any way we can.
SpinVybe: How do you ensure each live performance feels unique for your audience?
LEAP: New mistakes at each show (laughing) Nah, just kidding. I think it happens naturally; the energy at our shows from our fans really helps us get into the zone in the moment, and with that, each show is a unique experience in itself. Come to a few shows and find out.

SpinVybe: With a growing international and very engaged fanbase, how do you maintain a personal connection with fans across different countries?
LEAP: Our fans have always been instrumental in what we’re doing and how we’re growing. We hang out with them after our shows and have little van VIP parties (see here). And get them involved in videos like Waste Your Love.
SpinVybe: In such a short time you’ve approached a status as a group to watch across the UK and Europe's rock scene. What are your aspirations for the band's future?
LEAP: I think just to keep growing as we are and keep levelling up as a band, as a team, and as a family. Play in more cities and countries around the world!
SpinVybe: For those who have just discovered you, what song do you recommend that you each personally feel is your strongest in the discography, and why?
LEAP: I’d say ‘Play Dead’ I feel it captures everything! The chaotic energy right away, to the raw emotional lyrical expression of vulnerability, self-sabotage, and a desire to make a connection.

SpinVybe: You’ll be hitting the road this October. How do you approach tours this big that get to reach so many people? How do you decide what setlist to put together?
LEAP: They’ve been increasing in size each tour, so through experience we’re learning more & more each tour and applying that to the next. As for the setlist, we run through various options, nit-pick, and visualise shows until we’ve got something we feel flows and brings the HEAT!
SpinVybe: Are you surprised by how far you’ve come in just two years, and what do you attribute that success to?
LEAP: We are surprised, but it was always within our vision; it just came to life a bit quicker! Huge thanks to our insanely hard-working team & infinitely loyal fans.
SpinVybe: Finally, what's next for you? What would your goal be for 2026?
LEAP: I’d say a big one was to play shows in the USA, which is now happening in March 2026. And to reach as many ears and touch as many hearts as possible.
