With a whirlwind of energy, front man Matt Bowman jumps, ducks and dives all over the stage to the entertainment of the audience and had no intention to stay still at any point during the evening!

The Pigeon Detectives are an English Indie Rock band from Rothwell in Leeds which formed in 2004, they have released six albums to date. As once quoted by their Drummer Jimmi Naylor, he never liked the band name but it stuck and brought them more attention being a band with a silly name. It became an in joke with their early career appearances.

Early performance included Reading and Leeds festivals and an appearance at Kendal Calling last year. They are constantly a certified crowd pleaser, bringing on-stage antics and high energy.

The Brixton show served as part of a headline ‘Best of’ tour which included dates in Glasgow, Nottingham, Leeds, Birmingham, and Manchester being the last show.

Kicking of the night were Monday Made an Indie band from Lincoln which combined raw energy with an edgy guitar rhythms. The band certainly made waves with the already hyped up crowd at a packed and hot venue.  They have already generated a buzz and a loyal fan following up north and incarnated as a Wedding band!

Up next was the raucous Leeds indie band Gravy, they have received paise with their 2024 single “Wait another day” The big catchy choruses of Vocalist Harrison Bailey were winning over the crowd and a perfect warm up for the Pigeon Detectives. The baseline just pounded through the venue with Louis Tuxworth on drums setting the tone

From the second Matt Bowman took to the stage with opening track ‘Lovers Come and Lovers Go’, it was apparent that he had no plans to stand still with high leaps, some stage diving into the crowd who held him high and aerial scissor kicks from the drum kit. At one stage he sang up close to the crowd on the barrier as the energetic night progressed and no reprieve from his high octane!

He lead the crowd like an instructor with his Indie rock choruses and swinging the microphone high above his head whilst the rest of the band kept the rhythm going,The craziness continued with Bowman climbing onto the speaker like a seasoned stuntman! The set delivered every hit single with the highlight being “Take her back”, seeing the crowd jump the highest. The pigeon Detectives showed everyone they can still pull of a majestic rock show with high levels of enthusiasm!.
