On a dreary and cold Tuesday night most would choose to stay in with a series and take away but a buzz is forming from the Engine Rooms in Southampton. The kind of buzz that promises something energetic and exciting is about to kick off at any moment. Pale Waves deliver this in absolute buckets, from the lights dimming to the flicker of the candelabras on stage there is a wave of energy and excitement.
The band opens with perfume and the room erupts under the full control of front woman Heather Baron-Gracie. She owns the e stage and the lyrics she sings in unison with the crowd engaging them with every word. Pale Waves only serve to amplify the reason why they are going from strength to strength, warm and shimmering guitars with a hard hitting bass.
It becomes very clear early on this is something special seeing a band such as Pale Waves in a room like Engine Rooms where you’re close enough to catch every facial expression, flick of hair and cord of the booming guitars and drums. Heather chats away between songs ensuring a very real and vulnerable connection with everyone in the room.
Pale Waves deliver their own special brand of intimacy in an extra special venue, if you’re ever given the chance to see them, do not miss it!
