The Mancunian venue’s charm created an ideal atmosphere for an impressive performance. Gorilla’s intimate setting allowed fans to connect closely with the music and the band, a rare experience in larger venues. The crowd’s enthusiasm was evident from the outset, and as English-American alternative group Sunday (1994) took the stage, their growing momentum was clear to all in attendance.
The band continues to deliver new music, and the evening featured a diverse setlist. In the opening songs—Our Troubles, Softly, Doomsday, and Devotion—their chemistry and engagement with the audience were clear. This energy persisted as they performed TV Car Chase, Blonde and Stained Glass Window, and Still Blue, much to the crowd’s delight. As the night progressed, their blend of strong harmonies and stage presence stood out in Silver Ford, Rain, Mascara, and Still Blue. Lee Newell and Paige Turner’s vocal duet combined raw emotion with technical precision. Fans responded by swaying and singing along, highlighting the band’s ability to connect through their music.
They closed the evening with Blossom and Tired Boy, both of which received a positive response, though Tired Boy stood out as a clear fan favourite. Their rapid growth over the past year is apparent, and their decade of collaboration has resulted in strong musical chemistry. This marks only the beginning for Sunday (1994). Their harmonies, instrumentation, and stage presence set them apart as a band to watch.
