Competing in heat 3 for a chance of a spot in the next round are Beer Cannon, A Thousand Cuts, Downturn and Crescent Halo
4/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Kicking off the night was Beer Cannon, a four piece Heavy Metal / Thrash Metal band from west Yorkshire, England UK. While coming on stage to a war siren, they encouraged the crowd to clap, they immediately showed power and dominance over the stage not only with their stage presence but with their vocals and instruments.
They had a high energy set that they kept up throughout keeping the crowd engaged with hard power beats, deep gritty vocals and fast guitar solos and lights that were perfectly in time with the music. Which the crowd resonated with and really enjoyed and they showed by starting circle pits, headbanging and moshing throughout.
They ended their set with their final song “Thrash to hard” keeping the energy up right to the very last note, the crowd clapped and cheered as they were leaving the stage, leaving a lasting impression.
Following on from beer cannon was A Thousand Cuts a four piece Metal band with hints of Punk and Grunge from Stoke-on-Trent, hitting the stage they started with their first song “Dumbest dogs” a song with high energy and fast paced catchy beats that instantly gripped the crowd. With a mix of unique vocals effortlessly transitioning from soft to harsh and the drums and guitars perfectly in sync they kept the crowd engaged and headbanging throughout the set.
Their whole set up was very cleverly put together with the lighting matching what was being played at the time (fast music, fast lights and vice versa), although the vocalist (dan’s) harsh vocals were outstanding, that's not to say that his clean vocals were lacking as they were also excellent.
As a whole they were a captivating watch, from their amazing crowd control, to their outstanding performance.
Up next was Downturn, a four piece Melodic Hardcore band from Yorkshire UK, they entered the stage to old style music giving fall out vibes, they immediately got the crowd involved by asking everyone to take a step closer to the stage, they started with their song “Heaven”, which had a tense build up with riffs from the guitars starting and then the beats from the drums seamlessly joining in and then the vocals really tying it all together to create a sound that the crowd could really enjoy, on the whole they worked really well together showing confidence as a group.
They showed great crowd control by effortlessly keeping the crowd engaged with moshpits and headbanging throughout the whole set. Their songs were uniquely composed creating a one of a kind sound that has an energy that makes you want to move, the lead vocalist performed passionately clearly showing his love for the art and I can't wait to see what they do next.
Last to hit the stage was Crescent Halo, a three piece Heavy Metal band from Manchester, UK.
With a hard beat drum intro going in the background the lead vocalist immediately shows great crowd control by getting the crowd to shout along with him, “when i say hey you say lo”, getting into their first song of the night “Sinners on the run”, their sound immediately gave off “old school” metal vibes, with the melodic vocals of the lead, catchy beats from the guitar and drums, the crowd was immediately hooked.
They showed great range with their second song, “World we knew”, as it was a slower song giving everyone a welcome change of pace, with the harmonious sound and clear passion from the lead vocalist. They further showed great crowd control by being very interactive and initiating circle/mosh pits, overall they were very professional and had a very well put together sound.
